This quote reveberates my feelings. I too believe that children should be treated as humans, we all have feelings and even though a child's feelings are sometimes ignored by adults, they are valid and should be respected. For instance, when I was a child my father always disregarded my and my siblings feelings concerning issues we were dealing with. He saw things from his point of view and his view only. So therefore we suppressed our thoughts and eventually figured that our feelings did not matter. Therefore, we became followers,( and this lead to us thinking that we had to settle for less). Now that I'm grown I have realized that what I think, feel, and say matters. Guess what! I am no longer a follower. And I pledge to make sure that my daughter know that what she feels makes a difference to me. Great quote Christine!
